January and February CD Calendar Inserts

As promised  where are the January and February 2010 CD Calendar inserts.  Each month Crabby Cakes Studio will post a monthly CD insert for you!  We hope these are an inspiration to create one for 2011!
The champagne and glasses is a digi images from

The wine bottle and glasses were printed in color, cropped, and then clear glaze was used to create the 'glass' look.

To add the festive feeling of the New Year little confetti beads were glued using Elmer's Glue randomly over the page.

The cupig is a digi images from

The cupig was printed in color, cropped, and then pink glitter was added as sparkle and bling.

To add the feeling of LOVE, we hand stamped some hearts along the edge in a pink ink.   We added a few clear rhinestones to the calendar and the corners.

So what do you think?  Have you ever created a CD calendar before, if so please share with us!  We would love to hear your feedback.

March's Product Review: Singer's Pixie Sewing Machine

As crafters, Crabby Cakes Studios tries to stay in touch with all the newest products for the scrapbooking and paper-crafting industry.
Christine and I giggled with glee when Singer announced that they were coming out with the Pixie Sewing Machine.  This little purple cutie was created for paper-crafters that love that sewn look and providing dimension of sewing on scrapbook pages and cards.  Sporting the fact it is compact and light weight, easy to take to scrapbook crops.  Off to Wal-Mart to make our purchases!
.....sadly this happiness ended quickly as soon as we opened our boxes.  Yes, we agree, Singer you created a light weight sewing machine. However, The Pixie feels flimsy and it seems to be made poorly with cheap plastic, it almost feels like a slight jostle will cause it to fall about.  Never fear! Crabby Cakes Studio has purchased a many of items that have been a little questionable, and have been pleasantly surprised.
Setting up the thread was easy breezy simple because the threading was pre-packaged.  Now we are super excited, ready to sew!  This is the exact moment when all excitement came to a halt.  The power pedal is horrible, it jamming up and it got stuck, it never stopped (on both machines)! The manual sewing switch is even worse; there is no control factor which makes it very difficult to maneuver the lines and sewing details.
Lastly, the directions and problem solving pamphlet provided by Singer are incorrect and have little visual pictures to assist an inexperienced sewer.  Once the pre-packaged thread ran out….forget about it! It cannot be rethreaded again.  Christine and I spent hours trying to figure out what we were doing wrong...according to other reviews, we were doing everything right, the product was just wrong.
Crabby Cakes Studio quickly returned these little purple machines.  Although the retail price is appealing running 49.99-60.00,it is not worth it!
Here is a helpful hit, use your main sewing machine,  cause The Pixie this is not going to make your crabby day turn into happy.

Not even Pixie Dust can limit the frustration caused by the Singer Pixie Sewing Machine.

Treasure Box Designs Digi Stamp Birdies Card

Treasure Box Designs New Digi Stamps Makes Creating A Homemade Card A Breeze!

We love Treasure Box Designs! We use their paper templates for lots of albums we create.  They have now made it easy for every craft level  by creating digi stamps!  LOVE THEM!  They are easy to download to your PC.  The best part is that they colored images for all those last minute cards you need!  Simply print, cut and paste and you can be on your way! Also included in your purchase is a black and white image, this is great for coloring with your Copic markers, watercolors, and color pencils!  Here at Crabby Cakes Studios we are always wanting to share budget these digi stamps can be purchased at for only a $1.00!!!

Oops, one more thing to add to my can customize the size!  When was the last time you purchased a stamp that you could according to your NEVER!

This card example was created in 10 minutes using only scraps!  Even the printed digi stamps was printed on a left over white would have been faster if glitter was not used.  The Birdies stamp was used to create this card.

We printed "A  Little Birdie Told  me..."
We used water color to paint in the the image and cut the image to be in portion of the card.  (We used left over scraps too!)  Covered the entire front of image with glitter glue and added Prisma Glitter.  Add a few blue brads. Complete!
