In Response to our tutorial on creating custom tags in Word, one of our followers, Ann asked for a tutorial to create a template for A2 cards that can be cut in the Dreamkutz.

1. Open Word. (For this example we are using Office 2007)
2. Select Mailings.

3. Select Labels.

4. In the Envelopes and Labels pop up window, select Options.

5. In the Label Options pop up window, select New Label.

6. The Label Details pop up window will open. This is where we will set up our custom Label. We will be giving you the settings to create this for both portrait and landscape cards. The first step is to name the labels or cards.

7. To create the label, you will need to change the following fields: Label Name, Label Height, Label Width, Number Across, Number Down, Vertical Pitch, Horizontal Pitch, and Page size.

Setting for a 4.25x5.5 Portrait Card Label Height = 5.5"
Label Width = 4.25"
Number Across = 2
Number Down = 2
Page Size = Letter (8 1/2 x 11in)
Vertical Pitch = 5.5"
Horizontal Pitch = 4.25"

Setting for a 4.25x5.5 Portrait Card

Label Height = 4.25"
Label Width = 5.5"
Number Across = 2
Number Down = 2
Page Size = Letter Landscape (11 x 8 1/2in)
Vertical Pitch = 4.25"
Horizontal Pitch = 5.5"

8. The vertical pitch is always equal to the label height and the horizontal pitch is always equal to the label width.

9. To Select Paper Size, click on the down arrow on the right side of the paper size. This will show the drop down box.

10.  When typing your greeting for a portrait card - only type on the right side.  (for this card - I choose the inside greeting to be "All you need is love, but a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt!  Happy Easter)

10. When typing your greeting for a Landscape card - only type on the bottom.

12.  Print on cardstock and you are ready to cut in the Dreamkutz.

13.  Place cardstock in Dreamcutz according or type of card (portrait or landscape) and cut.   You will have 2 perfectly cut cards! 

14.  Fold in half and you are now ready to decorate your card!!

I decorated my card with an original paper piecing design of a cute bunny and now it is ready to be mailed to somebunny special!

SNEAK PEEK: Janurary 2 Page Layout 12X12

Here is a sneak peek of our 

January Layout.  

Crabby Cakes Studio is please to be launching a new product line featuring a monthly pack of completed paper piecing that you can purchase in our Etsy Shop.

Each pack will be based on a calendar month and events that occur during that set month.  

For example: January includes New Year Bear and Title, Champagne bottle and glasses, a snowman, a snowflake, and a pair of mitten and matching hat!

Each set will have several individual pp's and a monthly title page!  They can be used in scrap layouts, in albums as additional embellishments, cards, boxes, gift bags....the list can go on!

Here is a more detailed look at our featured layout using the "January" paper piecings.

CCS will be creating only 1 monthly scrapbook layout featuring the monthly pp's set.  Once it is sold, it will not be creating again!

Here is a perfect place to document your New Year's resolutions or your child's!  It always fun to look back and see what our priorities were and how much we have acheived....not acheieved!  LOL

This is a very large Champange Bottle and flutes.  Hand chalked for shading detail and drawn in white highlighting for added detail.

The wine bottle label is stunning with a stamped label as well.

Page 2 includes the Snowman and Matching mitten and hat set.  So Darling, a great page to showcase your fun In the Snow Day with the kids!  

 

All the paper piecings are very detailed, a dark blue rhinestone is adorned to the pom pom of the hat.  Of course it would not be a Crabby Cakes Studio design without all the chalking and white highlighted details.

A piece of white satin ribbon connects the mittens too!

Used a scrap sticker and made this double layered mat and added a little snowflake rhinestone. 

It would not be January without a snowman!

This side bar on this layout brings the BLING!   Four silver glittered snowflakes trickle down the page adding that WOW factor to this layout!

There is nothing sweeter than watching a little one sleep.  

This layout is perfect for any little napper you might have in your life!

 This is a one of a kind layout and will only be available this one time!

Here is a closer look at the sleep little teddy bear.  In a red and white polka dotted nap cap and matching blankie!

Sweet Dreams are a promising for this little one as teddy sleeps on a hanging moon.  The star below the moon is attached with red wire that wound around the moon to ensure that little twinkling star does not get lost!

Each photo mat is double layered for added demension.

How to make a custom template in Word

Tired of wasting paper just to get the correct tag? Ever wonder how to get the perfectly sized tags for you homemade cards or scrapbook layouts?   Well wonder no more...


Crabby Cakes Studio is pleased to offer this quick tutorial on how to create custom Word Templates. For this example we are going to create a set of 2x3” Landscape tags.

1. Open Word. (For this example we are using Office 2007)

2. Select Mailings.

3. Select Labels.

4. In the Envelopes and Labels pop up window, select Options.

5. In the Label Options pop up window, select New Label.

6. The Label Details pop up window will open. This is where we will set up our custom Label. Our first step is always naming the label. In the Label name box type the name of your label. We usually enter the size and then the orientation (we will be creating a 2x3 Landscape Label). Example:

7. To create the label, you will need to change the following fields: Label Name, Label Height, Label Width, Number Across, Number Down, Vertical Pitch, Horizontal Pitch, and Page size.

8. To calculate the number across or down, divide the width/height of the paper by the width/height of the label that you are making. For a 2x3” landscape Label the equation would be as follows:

11/3 = 3.66666 – so we will be able to have 3 labels across.

8.5/2 = 4.25 – so we will be able to have 4 labels down.

9. The vertical pitch is always equal to the label height and the horizontal pitch is always equal to the label width.

10. To Select Paper Size, click on the down arrow on the right side of the paper size. This will show the drop down box.

11. Click ok. Congratulations, you have just set up your first of many custom labels in Word.

12. Next time you need to use this label, follow steps 1-4 and then instead of selecting New Label, you will select Label Vendors and Other/Custom. This is where all of your custom label templates will be saved.

13. Select your label and click ok.

14. Select New Document

15. Your label is ready to use. Type, print, and cut!!

The sky is the limit for all the different size tags that you can create.

How do you like to store your paper?

Well I (Christine) am in the home stretch of my scrap room re-organization! 


The hardest task that is still pending is putting away all of my paper. What I foolishly thought was going to be a couple of hours on Saturday turned into a week long process! 


I already had 12 (yes I said 12) of the Sterilite 3 Drawer Clearview storage units (pictured below), but that was not enough storage for me and my paper stash was piling up around me.

 

When I was at Target last week, I found the Sterilite 7 Drawer Craft Cart on clearance for 20.98. I bought one think that would be plenty of new storage for all of my paper. Well, Saturday I purchased a second one and on Sunday, I purchase 2 more of the 3 drawers Clearview containers. Finally - ENOUGH STORAGE. I think and hope.....

Now the question is how to divide up my paper......

At Bobbi's suggestion, I have started to breakdown my paper packs and storing them by color theme. I have all of my holiday paper and specialty paper separated. (Christmas is 5 drawers alone!) So this brings me to the question of the day....
